Every animal deserves a safe, loving home. One of them might be yours.
Every animal here has a story
Animals come to WAGS from all kinds of circumstances. Some are owner surrenders from families facing hard times. Others are strays, dumped and left to fend for themselves. Many are pulled from overcrowded shelters — sometimes off death row with just hours to spare. And some arrive as a package deal: a mama and her babies, abandoned together and waiting for someone to step up.

ii. adoption process
Ready to adopt? We ask a lot of questions, and that's on purpose: the goal is the right match, not the fast one — here's what to expect, step by step:

-
Adopters must be at least 25 years old. While exceptions are sometimes made depending on the dog, we generally require home ownership. Most importantly, adopters must be able to provide a safe, stable home and be financially prepared for veterinary care, preventatives, and other ongoing needs.
-
Our standard adoption fee is $595, which includes vaccinations, microchipping, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and spay or neuter. Senior or special-needs dogs may have a different adoption fee depending on their individual circumstances.
-
At WAGS, our priority is always the animal’s long-term success and happiness. Each placement is based on what’s best for that particular dog—considering things like their comfort with other animals or children, activity level, medical needs, and your household schedule and experience.
Not being matched with one dog doesn’t mean you can’t adopt—it just means another pup may be a better fit.
-
After adoption, we stay in close touch! WAGS checks in daily at first, then gradually less often as everyone settles in. We’re always available for questions and support, and we’ll share helpful resources to help your new family member adjust smoothly. Pups require varying periods of time to acclimate to their new surroundings and new humans.
-
You can always reach out to us! WAGS remains a resource for our adopters throughout your dog’s life. Whether you need advice, reassurance, or a trusted contact for care—we’re here for you.
-
If you ever find yourself unable to keep your WAGS dog, please contact us immediately so we can create a plan together. Because we rely on foster homes, we can’t take back a dog without arranging placement first—but we’ll work with you to find the best solution.
Please note: as stated in the adoption contract, WAGS dogs may not be rehomed privately under any circumstance. WAGS involvement is required, as stated in our legal and binding contract.
